Red Carpet is a professional and dedicated service, offering tuition in all things performing from a qualified, experienced and skilled teaching staff. We take each child as they come, whether they be shy and nervous in need of a confidence boost or already actively performing and wishing to hone their skills. Our training is entirely customisable to suit your child, we even offer the option for private 1 on 1 sessions to further improve and build on their abilities! We train your child in everything from singing acting and dancing to filming and performing for screen. We also allow your child to find their own identity and “professional industry attitude” as well as providing practical performance experience both professionally, through crafting CV’s, headshots and sending them off for auditions, and within school by guaranteeing them a part in all our shows! In short, we teach them everything they will need to know to succeed in the performing arts industry in whatever capacity the desire and in a manner accessible to all!
Red Carpet Theatre School runs on a Saturday afternoon from 2-4pm as well as an hour on a Tuesday evening, depending on your child’s assigned group. Below is a description of what goes on and what to expect from each term here at Red Carpet Theatre School!
Christmas / Production Term:
This is the term where we put on our big musical! This can be anything from a pantomime written in house to a popular mainstream show! In the past we have performed Annie Jr, Hairspray Jr, Into The Woods Jr and, most recently, Legally Blond Jr! This year we are performing an in house pantomime called The Princess, Her Prince and a Pea! This term is all about rehearsals! We begin the term with the show already cast and the scripts already handed out before the break! We dive straight in teaching the songs, dances and scenes required to the show and end the term with two professional, large scale performances to a paying audience! This is a very busy term for both staff and students with sessions quite regularly needing to be extended to 1:30-4:30 and so requires a high level of dedication and hard work from both our students and their parents!
Easter / Showcase Term:
During this term we turn our focus to developing as performers, going outside our comfort zones or “type casts” and improving our skill sets! This is the term where we provide workshops by industry professionals, craft CV’s and headshots, take LAMDA exams, and really put our learning heads on! At the end of this term we put all we have learned into practice with a showcase for invited industry professionals and parents that includes songs and dances, solo’s, duets and group numbers as well as scenes and narration! Our most recent showcase got rave reviews with many of our students being recommended for professional work in the future! This term also includes, possibly our most high profile event of the year, Red Carpet Awards Ceremony! This is a chance for the teachers to reward the students for all their hard work over the year and celebrate all their achievements! With a glamorous, Hollywood dress code and a real Red Carpet to strut your stuff on, its a perfect way to end the term!
Summer / Junior Theatre Festival Term:
If you fancy a trip, then this is the term for you! Within this term we try to organise as many trips as we can such as going to see a show, taking a backstage tour of a theatre or film set or visiting a musical theatre conference! Every year we also attend the Junior Theatre Festival at the ICC in Birmingham organised by Musical Theatre International! We take our most recent production, this year will be Legally Blond JR, and perform a 20 minute excerpt for industry professionals to observe who we are and what we can do! We receive feedback and assistance from them as well as attend workshops lead by working professionals in the industry! We top it all off with the chance to take home awards at the closing ceremony and maybe even perform on the main stage! Within class we will cast, learn and prepare our 20 minute show, ending with a private performance for the parents before we take it to Birmingham!
We are very flexible with payments here at Red Carpet, offering three different payment options or “routes” to choose from. Our main goal, pretty much the reason we opened the school is to make performing arts tuition as accessible financially as we possibly can, offering cheaper prices and providing multiple methods of payment to allow people who maybe couldn’t afford to send their child somewhere like this the chance to make it happen! Below is a brief outline of the routes we offer and the services they provide:
Route 1: £250 a term – 2 classes a week
Route 2: £300 a term – 2 classes a week and a block of 6 private 30 minute sessions
Route 3: £350 a term – 2 classes a week and a block of 12 private 30 minute sessions
Red Carpet Rookies is our special classes dedicated to 4-6 year olds! This is run by our fabulous teacher Shelley and involves lots of singing and dancing to all your favourite songs! The classes run for an hour on a Saturday afternoon from 2:30 – 3:30 and each term will end with a private Rookies performance to parents and our main school students! We craft each term to echo what our main school is working on, creating mini versions of shows they are performing, workshops they are taking and skills they are learning! The Rookies also regularly visit main school sessions to ease a transition from Rookies once they are 6/7 years old!
